One Walk London 2024

Support our walk for a cure

This year marks a significant milestone for our family. Five years ago, our lives were forever changed when our son, Aydin, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of two.

To commemorate this milestone, as a family we are participating in JDRFs One Walk London, walking 1k for each year Aydin’s had diabetes. This will be no small challenge for Aydin so I hope that you’ll consider donating whatever you can to motivate him.

Type 1 diabetes is a relentless condition that requires constant vigilance and management. For Aydin, this means regular injections and hospital checkups, daily blood sugar monitoring, and the continuous balancing act of managing diet and activity.

As he’s got older he’s noticed that his diabetes makes him different from other children. I’m excited for him to see the support of so many people as we do this walk and see other children and adults just like him.

We did it!

Sunday 23rd Jun
We had a fantastic time yesterday. The atmosphere and energy was great. Aydin made a friend and didn’t even notice the kilometres go by, which goes to show you can do hard things with the support of friends and family. Thank you to everyone who donated. Aydin was so surprised so many people know and support him. Thank you again.
