About Discovery One Walk
We are beyond excited to be launching our brand-new Discovery One Walk at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham! Join the type 1 community for a day learning about managing type 1 diabetes, hearing from incredible guest speakers and celebrating togetherness, while raising vital funds to help change lives!
When you sign up you can choose to take on take on 5 or 10 laps of the world-famous track that hosted the Commonwealth games to raise money and awareness for type 1 diabetes! Register yourself, family and friends and start fundraising today!

Event information
Discovery One Walk is still in the planning stages, which means that some details of the event are subject to change. If any changes do occur, we will contact you with the updated information.
Event day schedule

You can come and go as you please, but everyone is encouraged to stay throughout the day to celebrate the community and enjoy the event activities. We look forward to spending the day with you.
One Walk
You can choose to take on 5 (2km) or 10 (4km) laps of the Alexander Stadium track, joining Rufus and the One Walk community coming together. At the end of your walk, you will receive an exclusive One Walk Medal to celebrate your achievement.
By taking on One Walk and fundraising you are helping to change the lives of people affected by type 1 - now and in the future.
Children's activities
Visit the children's activity area and check out all the fun, complete with face painting and multiple activities that are open to everyone.
Exhibitor area
Please visit our exhibitor area to find great information on the latest type 1 diabetes tech! We will also feature some local businesses with fun giveaways.
Pets
Unfortunately, dogs are NOT permitted in the stadium at Discovery One Walk.
Fundraising
We ask that everyone taking part in the One Walk activity raises as much as they can for JDRF to help us continue to fund research into type 1. When you sign up, a Fundraising page will be automatically set up for you.
Follow our tips below to help reach your fundraising target:
- Set a fundraising target. We recommend a target of £150, which you can increase if you reach your target early.
- Personalise your page. Share your story and why you are taking part in One Walk and fundraising for JDRF.
- Share the link to your fundraising page with friends, family, and colleagues on WhatsApp, email and/or on your social media channels.
Raise £150 or more and you will be entered into the One Walk prize draw for your chance to win a £100 John Lewis voucher.
