One walk for type 1 diabetes

My name is Eva Ruby Hamill and I am taking part in this walk as a member of the type 1 diabetic community. I have been diabetic for two and a half years and this has changed my life and everyone’s around me. I have been supported by many people in my life and I am extremely thankful for everyone and what they have done to make sure I am okay.
Being diabetic does not stop you from doing anything, you are like everyone else, there is no reason to feel like an outcast because you are not, you’re special. 
I am now 11 years old, in year 7, and I have already been through so much. If you’re type 1 diabetic and think there is no way out, there is. It’s hard for people to understand how much we struggle, when we leave class we are told we are lucky, but are we?
Just because people don’t understand doesn’t mean they don’t care. If people ask questions it gets uncomfortable but it doesn’t have to be, make sure you talk about it then they might finally understand. If people treat you differently that doesn’t matter because you deserve to be treated different. “You can’t blend in when you were born to stand out”
I am taking part in this walk so that in future no person and family will ever have to go through what we did. To do this walk I have two of my closest friends, my mum, my dad and my brother with me.
We all believe that JDRF can make a difference in the world and cure type 1 diabetes.
